The
Repeat Offender Speaks
You
know how I feel about the form letter. A-N-N-O-Y-I-N-G!!!
If you go to any other site which offers advice on internet
dating and responding to personal ads will tell you the same
thing - DON'T WRITE FORM LETTERS!!! After getting this same
message half a dozen times, I wrote him back...
Lorina's
Response: Pardon me for being rude
But I don't think you're my kind of dude.
You're
the kind to send mass e-mails
To every ad from single females.
You
see, I've gotten your mail before
Is writing something new such a chore?
Why
didn't you write a little note to me
And show a sign of originality?
I
don't like the old copy and paste
To me it seems like such a waste.
ps...
In all honesty, your message was one of the better form mail
ones. But couldn't you have just written a little paragraph
actually RESPONDING to my ad, then pasted your likes, dislikes,
etc? After all, I took a long time to write my ad, and I'd
like to know you actualy READ it! Knowing this whole message
is just a "line" is a big turn off. By the way,
dead giveaway that this is a copy and paste - where you asked
if I had a photo. There was a photo in my ad.
Lori's
Response: You see... not knowing who I am is precisely
the reason I wrote you... Personally, it doesn't bother me
one bit if you cut and paste, since I had hundreds of others
to possibly respond to, but it's doing a disservice to you.
Actually, I've cut and paste a few of the basic facts too
when responding, but I always make sure to add a few personally
written lines, or a different subject title, not only to actually
communicate with the guy, but so I can remember who is who!
(I must be a bit anal - I had this thing down to a science!)
Your basic message was pretty good, like I said, but it lacks
that certain personal touch. Add that (a few lines to the
girl) to the message, you'll stand a better chance of meeting
that special someone, and you won't have to write to so many
different women! I hope you don't take this the wrong way,
I really do mean to be helpful. I've looked at some of the
ads from women, and some are really boring and don't really
say anything about the girl, so it's got to be hard to write
something to them, but for those of us who do have a well
written ad full of good info, write US something special!
That's all I'm asking!
Actually,
my ad has been down for some time now, and I'm dating someone
I met thru these ads. I wish you all the luck that I'm having
with this!
(Ok,
so that last bit was a lie... I just wanted to get him "off
my scent," so to speak. So... just a week later, I got
this response to my ad.)
Lorina:
Oh, well... at least he changed that bit about the picture
in the ad.
Changing
the world... one repeat offender at a time.
